The real subject of my Oil Paintings is always the light even when the Still Life is the actual source of the light. I love the fact that this essentially makes my painting, Illuminations, almost a conceptual Moebius strip. The still life acts metaphorically, as the lamp does physically, by illuminating a slice of life in our little 2nd floor apartment. I love to place this painting in a room and feel the difference. As you look at this painting memories emerge like the pools of lights

and shadows in this painting.
